The Hotel Acevi Villarroel is located in Eixample, an ideal base for exploring Barcelona. Many major tourist attractions are within walking distance, and the Urgell metro stop and several bus routes whisk you to sights like Gaudi’s Sagrada Familia, the Joan Miró Foundation or the Picasso Museum. The Paseo de Gràcia and Plaça de España are just 10 minutes away, Las Ramblas is about a 15-minute walk and we are close to numerous art galleries.
Called Passeig de Gràcia in Catalan, this boulevard with its sumptuous architecture and luxury shops is one of the most beautiful avenues in the world. You can reach it by foot from the hotel in just 10 minutes and follow it to the famous Plaça de Catalunya.
From Plaça Catalunya you can follow the legendary Ramblas leading down to the port. Strolling down this emblematic, tree-lined boulevard is a must in Barcelona, so much so that it is essentially a pedestrian artery. Look out for the mosaic by Joan Miró and the Font de Canaletes, or Fuente de Canaletas in Spanish, a fountain often used as a meeting point.
At the foot of the magical fountain of Montjuïc, with its funicular railway and magnificent views over the harbour, you will find Plaça de España, just a 10-minute walk from the hotel. This is one of Barcelona’s major junctions and was built for the 1929 International Exhibition. Look out for the Venetian towers that guard the entrance to Fira de Barcelona, or Barcelona Trade Fair, the exhibition district.
